Hima is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT). She continues to go through extensive training and supervision and has experience working in hospital, clinic and consular settings. Hima is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Marriage and Family Therapists, the Emirates Society for Mental Health and the Emirates Medical Association.
Hima’s approach to therapy focuses on establishing a space for self-reflection, exploration, and building narratives about past experiences. She is passionate about patterns of communication, couple’s attachment styles, and family dynamics. She also advocates for the social inclusion and rehabilitation of patients experiencing clinical symptoms. A crisis is understood within the context of culture, circumstances, and relationships. Hima uses evidence-based methods to address them. Her sessions would encourage curiosity about patterns in one’s life in a non-judgmental space. Treatment plans would be co-created with and will follow the pace of her clients.
